My New Friends Child Development Home was opened on July 1st, 2008. We are a Washington State Licensed In-Home Family Childcare, Located in Tacoma, WA 98418 in the area of 38th St. and Yakima Ave. We are close to Whitman Elementary School (About 5 blocks away). Mission Statement
My New Friends Childcare, as the name states, a childcare where your child will meet new friends. As such we are dedicated to creating and maintaining an environment of positive learning and creative fun while providing the respect, love, and attentive care that each child deserves.
As we meet the emotional, physical, and cognitive needs of children, as well as their health and safety, your child will experience a successful, supportive, enjoyable, and well-rounded day.
We offer a Gee Whiz family childcare curriculum, which aligns with WAKids and provides your child opportunities to practice:Art, Music, Reading, Writing, Science, Math, Dramatic Play, and Monthly Activity Themes. Each child’s day is set in an environment filled with love, security, acceptance, guidance, and sensitivity as they grow, explore and learn about the world around them.
My New Friends is committed to providing a home away from home atmosphere. We are here to always have open communication with you regarding your child’s experiences, development and care with us.
Philosophy and Program Description
It is our philosophy that a child’s learning and play environment should be a hands-on experience that will encourage a greater desire to learn. Our positive reinforcement and redirection of children; helps to encourage positive choices. We facilitate, encourage and guide children, in meeting their basic needs in positive ways.
The basic language spoken in our Childcare is English, however, we strive to meet the cultural needs of families and children and expect all to show respect for one another’s individuality, differences, cultures and diversity.
Typical Day's Schedule

5:30 am Childcare Opens - quiet activities and rest time
7:00 am Breakfast - handwashing, arrivals and limited choice time
9:00 am Morning Educational Activities, including choice time, small groups and circle time
12:00 pm Lunch
1:00 pm Quiet-Time/ Nap-Time/ Music
3:00 pm Snacks
3:30 pm Afternoon Educational Activities. including choice time, small groups and circle time
6:00 pm Day Session Closes
6:30 pm Limited choice time
7:00 pm Dinner / Snacks
8:00 pm Story-Time
8:30 pm Bedtime Preparation
9:00 pm Bedtime
12:00 am Evening Session Closes
CALL FOR OUR Part Time RATES AND AN APPOINTMENT TO VISIT US!
Infant Rates: $1,000 per month = $48 per day, for a 10 hr day breaks down to $4.80/hour
Toddler Rates: $845 per month = $40 per day, for a 10 hr day breaks down to $4.00/hour
Preschool Rates: $675 per month = $32 per day. for a 10 hr day breaks down to $3.20/hour
Your child will receive meals according to their arrival time.
Weekend rates will be charged a flat rate per day, call for more information concerning weekend hours of operation and all our rates/fees.
Definitions
Full time/Part time care: Full-time is 4 to 10 hours a day, 3 - 5 days per week.Part time is less than 4 hours a day and less than 3 days per week.
Weekend rates are per child/per day
